In November 2015, Brussels lived a four-day lockdown due to risks of terrorist attacks. Since then, the city’s reputation has been clouded by these safety issues, impacting the tourism sector : hotel occupancy rates fell by 20% in December.
To reassure potential visitors, the City of Brussels launched “operation Call Brussels”. The idea is quite simple: three phone boxes have been placed in different parts of the Belgian capital. Anyone with an Internet access can call one of these phone boxes and ask their questions to locals, who are always willing to reassure and encourage people to come to Brussels.
With this creative idea, local officials hope to recreate a positive image of the city. Euronews
